Bexleyheath high street wins special recognition at High Street Awards
Bexleyheath town centre has been awarded a prize in a national high street awards contest.
The town centre received a special recognition award at this year’s Great British High Street Awards.
The Great British High Street is a not for profit, government funded project working to celebrate innovative high streets across Britain.
Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Growth, Councillor Linda Bailey said: “I’m delighted that our main town centre high street has been recognised by the ‘Great British High Street’ campaign – my thanks go to the Bexleyheath BID team for all the work they put in to make this possible.
“People come from far and wide to visit Bexleyheath with its mixture of chain stores and independents, supermarkets and stalls.
“We really have the best of all worlds – and with the new Morleys store set to come into the Mall in Spring I’m sure we’ll see even more visitors to our great town.”
Bexleyheath was among a number of town centres to be given special recognition despite missing out on the top prize, which this year was won by Blackburn.
