The Great Christmas Switch On! November 2014
On a very British Saturday afternoon (yes the rain clouds had rolled in) Bexleyheath’s Broadway was alive with the Christmas Spirit! Launching the Bobby Appeal, alongside face painters, fire eaters, circus acts, live music and the Rock Choir , to name just a few, we saw an action packed day of activity. Throughout the day families were able to ride our Christmas Train up and down the Broadway (rescuing many from the rain!) and children were fascinated with our family of real life Reindeer who were happy to pose for plenty of pictures throughout the day.
We enjoyed a recital of Carols from the choir of Christ Church followed by a moving address from the Mayor, launching Greenwich & Bexley Hospices ‘Light Up a Life’ Campaign. As the skies began to darken everyone gathered by the Clock Tower to greet the parade of entertainment acts, reindeer and the Mayor’s horse drawn Christmas Carriage before the town counted down to the switch on of the Christmas lights. It was a magical day for all ages and a huge thanks to our town of Bexleyheath for turning out and supporting the day, despite the wet weather! Wishing you all a very happy Christmas from all at the Bexleyheath BID.
