Festive countdown to Christmas lights switch on in Bexleyheath

Bexleyheath will be launching its all new festive lighting programme this Saturday 19th November.

Entertainment will start from 1pm with switch on at 4pm, and is set to include local singers, dancers and roaming street acts.

The countdown to switch on will begin with a parade making its way from Broadway Shopping Centre then outside to launch Christmas.

With a little help from Gravel Hill Primary School, four pupils from the school were selected as winners of Bexleyheath’s Christmas card competition for their unique designs that will be made into Bexleyheath Town Centre’s official Christmas card.

The winners will be joined by the Worshipful Mayor of Bexley to switch on Bexleyheath’s Christmas tree and officially launch Christmas for the town.

Tony Garratt, Bexleyheath Town Centre Manager said “It was fantastic to see so much time and effort that was clearly put in to each and every design, and it proved difficult to decide the winners. I can’t think of a more unforgettable experience for these deserving young students than to light up Christmas in our Town Centre.”

Miss Neale, Gravel Hill Primary School Head Teacher commented “We are delighted that so many children have taken the time to enter this competition, where they have been able to showcase their talent in art and design. The winners are all very excited about being part of the festive lighting programme.”

Following the successful launch of the all new festive lighting scheme, Bexleyheath Town Centre has more for you to enjoy throughout December.

With School Christmas Carolthon’s, a free gift wrapping service and Santa’s Grotto, there’s plenty for you and the family to look forward to. From independent retail to a fine dining experience, Bexleyheath has lots of reasons for you to shop, celebrate and stay local this Christmas.
