Best of British Review
The Royal wedding was celebrated in Bexleyheath with a quintessentially British twist. From stilt walking Beefeaters to Selfie telephone boxes, there was something for all to enjoy whilst watching the newlyweds on the big screen.
Included in the fun was also roaming street performers and magicians, face painters, a selection of British foods and a pop up picnic area.
The event was a huge hit with multiple generations of families joining in the fun whilst witnessing the ‘I Do’.
The Royal Wedding and FA Cup Final had a detrimental effect on businesses nationwide, with footfall patterns changing locally too. Early and mid-afternoon peaks in the town centre footfall meant a WoW increase of 19.8% on Saturday but a YoY decrease of 0.6%. The Only footfall camera in the BID area to see a Year on Year increases across the week was the Pedestrian area monitor with an increase of 10.5% for the week.
