Colour Run Danson Park – May 2016
On Sunday 15th May Danson Park became a sea of colour with the annual “Colour Run” event raising money for the Greenwich & Bexley Community Hospice. With hundreds of runners of all ages and abilities it was a fun, carnival style atmosphere with everyone running through the park through colour stations, sponsored by local businesses, cheering everyone on.
Gareth Marsh of Bexleyheath’s Marriott Hotel said
” It has been a brilliant day. We have painted the park red and I am very proud of our teams who both manned the colour station and who ran in today’s race. We have loved being a part of this and most importantly raising money for such a great cause”.
Official fundraising figures are yet to be released but the Hospice on their Facebook page said :
“Thank you and well done to everyone who took part in the Colour Run. Thanks to all your efforts we’re hoping to raise more than £30,000 so we can continue supporting people in Greenwich and Bexley boroughs #hereforyou”
Late night bar and nightclub Nyne Lounge also took part as sponsors of the Orange colour station. Pete Marshall of Nyne Lounge on Broadway, Bexleyheath said :
“This is our second year being sponsors of the Colour Run and we always have an incredible day. We love cheering everyone on, covering them all in paint and of course raising money for the Hospice is fantastic. Well done to all of the runners, you survived a lot of paint being thrown at you!”
We’ll keep you posted for the final total of money raised but for now well done to all who took part and our local businesses for sponsoring and supporting such a worth while cause.
