Food Festival May 2016
There was plenty to feast on in Bexleyheath Town Centre last weekend when the town held its first official Food Festival with local chefs and businesses cooking up mouth-watering dishes with our festival garden alongside fantastic food market stalls.
The Food Festival took over the nearly the entire length of the pedestrianised area on the Broadway, with stalls piled high with everything from fudge, sweets, pastries, chillies and paella.
Local late night bar Nyne Lounge with their drinks tent served freshly made Mojitos and popped open the Prosecco all weekend whilst The Bexleyheath Marriott hotel served up thirst quenching mocktails, alongside freshly made salads.
Executive Head Chef Sunny Singh from The Bexleyheath Marriott hotel told us “We have loved being here today at The Food Festival. We’ve had the chance to meet so many people, display our passion for great food and the response to our stall being here has been fantastic.”
Irresistible breads, meats, pastas and sauces were served up at the incredible Stuzzichini stand which was a feast for both our eyes and our taste buds. Other businesses involved, both selling and sampling included Love Coffee, M&S, Nando’s, Frankie & Bennie’s and Bella Italia. It was fantastic to see so many local businesses getting involved and showcasing their fantastic products. Children’s characters Popeye & Olive Oyl were on hand to entertain and keep the kids smiling with free balloons and perfect picture opportunities!
We were lucky enough to enjoy the sunshine and avoided the black rain clouds that hit just a couple of days later! Town Centre Manager, Tony Garratt said “This has been a fantastic weekend for all involved and it has been wonderful to have had so many people to come and enjoy the Food Festival. We are keen to start planning another Food Festival, bigger and even better. This is just the beginning!”
