Revitalization Phase 2 Stage 2 – Update
We are pleased to report that the end of major works along Albion Road is on the horizon for Bexleyheath. An update from the revitalisation team stated that excellent progress is being made towards compleRevitalization Phase 2 Stage 2 – Updatetion of the works on the Albion Road section of the project.
Townley Road roundabout has been surfaced; work is in progress with kerbing and drainage for Highland Road roundabout and Highland Road at the Broadway Square car park entrance/exit. Night-time surfacing of this roundabout and Highland Road is scheduled for mid-November, weather permitting.
This will complete all of the surfacings for Albion Road, which will then be largely complete, with outstanding works being primarily finishes and landscaping. Albion Road, with the temporary roundabout at the junction with Gravel Hill providing all turning movements to and from Gravel Hill, will then be available for all access to the town centre and the car parks during the run-up to Christmas, via Oaklands, Townley Road and Highland Road.
Work will continue on the construction of the roundabouts on Gravel Hill, where the traffic management basically maintains the original road layout. The Contractor will continue to be required to maintain the correct number of traffic lanes to cater for traffic demand and no road closures or diversions will be permitted from mid-November until the end of the first week in January. This will be kept under constant review to monitor impacts on traffic movement and all work on the Gravel Hill carriageways will cease no later than 15 December.
Thank you for your patience during these works and your co-operation in working with us. The finishing of the works will ensure that during the Christmas busy period that Bexleyheath will continue to be an excellent option to shop, celebrate and stay within.
